Who am I
Website address is: https://www.hiddentext.co.uk.
What personal data is collected and why it is collected?
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site data is collected shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
I use a plug-in to manage my contact forms. This data as far as I am aware only comes to me.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will also set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
As this is a WordPress blog, they collect analytics about who is viewing which page. I also use Google Analytics too.
Who your data is shared with?
Probably Google and various nation-states, but hey, I don’t think I’m in control of that !! I am not knowingly sharing any data with anyone else. If you happen to find I am, please help me out and let me know who!
How long is your data retained?
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so it can be recognised and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on my website (if any), also stored is the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data?
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that any personal data is erased that is held about you. This does not include any data obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent?
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Contact information
Additional information
This is not my expertise. I’m trying hard to get this right so please be gentle with me and I’ll do my best to help you out. I am fairly easy to reach so contact me if you find anything that needs addressing.
How your data is protected?
I’m running this on WordPress, it is backed up, it is protected by my host. I use HTTPS and have Plugins to do as much other protection as I can!w
What data breach procedures are in place?
- As this is a personal blog, I don’t think I have anyone’s data. If I am breached, well firstly, I’ll start a post to share what I know.
- This post will be shared with any relevant law enforcement and compliance agencies required.
- Next, I will immediately be getting help to work out what’s been stolen and working to recover and minimise impact.
- I will then notify everyone affected of the breach and what was taken and possibly by whom.
- I will then cry quite a lot.
- Holes will then be plugged and grovelling apologies sent out by social media.
What third parties this blog receives data from?
None as far as I’m aware! Maybe WordPress and Google I guess for stats? If you find some, let me know!
What automated decision-making and/or profiling is done with user data?
I use anti-spam software which checks what comments you leave and helps me sift out spam
There’s a fair bit of Google analytics so I can work out where my viewers are from so I know when to post out at.
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
ICO is about it I think and law enforcement if they ask for it.
